SWEARING-IN CEREMONY

Kratovil familyDear Friends,

We've had quite a few people RSVP that they plan to attend Frank's swearing-in ceremony tomorrow in Washington, DC. The official ceremony takes place on the House floor beginning at noon on Tuesday. While seating in the House Gallery is limited to immediate family, we will be hosting an open house in our new office (Room 314 of the Cannon House Office Building) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for constituents traveling to DC for the occasion. (The ceremony can be viewed live on C-SPAN television for those unable to make the trip.) Following the ceremony, Frank will be hosting a reception from 3 PM to 5 PM in room H-137 of the Capitol Building.

We received additional security information earlier today from the Capitol Police regarding the open house and reception. If you are planning on attending the open house in Cannon 314, you can come right to our office after passing through the metal detectors at the entrances to the Cannon Building. However, due to tighter security restrictions in the Capitol Building, guests will need a staff escort to get into the Capitol for the reception. For guests attending the earlier open house, we will escort you to the reception at 3 PM. For guests arriving only for the reception, please go first to our office in room 314 instead of attempting to go directly to the reception. Our staff members will be available throughout the reception to escort guests back and forth.

We also want to share more information on travel and parking. Since parking on the Capitol grounds is closed to the public, we strongly recommend utilizing the Metro system to reach the Capitol. The New Carrolton Metro stop, which is a park-and-ride facility, is conveniently located on the same Orange Line as the Capitol South stop directly adjacent to the Cannon Building on the corner of 1st Street and Independence Avenue, SE.

If you do choose to drive, there is a public parking garage available at Union Station, which is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Cannon building. Upon exiting Union Station, find and follow 1st Street toward the Capitol. The Cannon building will be at the corner of 1st Stet and Independence Avenue. There is also a smaller parking garage and outdoor lot connected to the Fairchild Building, located at 499 S. Capitol Street, SW. That is a shorter walk approximately 5 minutes) but space is limited and costs $20 for the day. If you find parking there, walk north on South Capitol Street toward the Capitol and then make a right onto C Street and look for the Cannon Building entrance at the intersection of New Jersey Ave and C Street. There is also metered street parking available in the vicinity of the Capitol, but it is limited to 2 hours and is likely to be very crowded on Tuesday. If you elect to utilize metered parking be sure to bring quarters, as they do not accept smaller coinage.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office at 202-225-5311 if you have any questions. We hope to see you tomorrow!

Sincerely,
Frank Kratovil

The period for signing up to request tickets to the inauguration ceremony has passed. We will be reaching out by email within the next few days to everyone who signed up on the waiting list to let them know the results of the drawing for the limited number of tickets we have available.

We will also update this website soon with additional information about public viewing areas on the mall so that those who have not been fortunate enough to get tickets through our drawing will still be able to attend the ceremony themselves. Inaugural information is also available at:
